For me the photography session should not be about funny cheesy smiles or big satiny dresses. I like to capture the personality of each individual child/person. Typically I feel that less is more. The more simple the outfit, the hair, the set-up all the better. In this environment i tend to see each individual emerge.
-Try to avoid overpowering patterns, shirts with sayings or characters and ball caps(touques and tight hats are OK).
-However,this said, I love to see silly tights, messy hair, frowns, or mismatched color. This lets me know the true essence of the individual is shining through.
-Don’t be worried if your child insists on picking out their outfit, it sometimes makes for the best and most memorable pictures.
-bare skin and bare feet is best.
-avoid tight headbands and uncomfortable looking outfits.
-if your baby or child has a special item to bring by all means bring it.
-please consider the time of the day your baby/child(ren) seem to be most awake and happiest, when booking a session appointment.
For toddlers and children:
-I like to get down to their level and have them get to know me and me them in order for them to feel comfortable.
-please don’t pressure your child to do a certain pose or to say “cheese”. This tends to make the child more on edge and it is harder to see their true personality shine through.
-I leave lots of time for these sessions and time is allotted for breaks, snacks, changing and playing.<
-Patience and understanding is key for these sessions, I have lots of it and I ask that you do as well.
-I try to avoid working with too many props as they tend to be distracting. However, if you have a special request for a certain prop please feel free to inquire.
The typical session is approximately 1 to 2 hours long, however there is no real time limit. Proofs will be ready to view 2 to 3 weeks after the session date in an on-line password protected gallery . Your on-line gallery will be available for viewing for 14 days. Ordered prints will be ready 2 to 3 weeks after the order has been placed.
-Cancellations must be made within 48 hours of the appointment date. If your child is ill I completely understand and request that you give 24 hours notice or as much notice as possible to reschedule your appointment.
